It was a true privilege to attend the recent gathering in Orlando hosted by the Independent Insurance Agents of Central Florida, featuring a fireside chat with Florida Insurance Commissioner Mike Yaworsky. Commissioner Yaworsky brought a rare combination of transparency, energy, and authenticity to the conversation, engaging the room with humor, candor, and a clear commitment to both insurance professionals and the consumers they serve.
His forthright perspective and thoughtful insights offered genuine optimism about the continued strength and stability of Florida’s homeowners insurance market. Just as notable was his unwavering focus on keeping the consumer at the center of every discussion. Congratulations to the Independent Insurance Agents of Central Florida for hosting such a meaningful and impactful event, and sincere thanks for warmly welcoming the Professional Insurance Agents of Florida, Inc. into the conversation. The feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing deep appreciation for the opportunity to spend time with a commissioner who is as accessible as he is dedicated.

The Florida Legislature is back in town next Monday (April 20) for a special session on redistricting. Senate President Ben Albritton reports there has been no agreement with the House on a new state budget, meaning another special session will be needed after next week’s – but before the current fiscal year ends on June 30 in order to avoid a potential state government shutdown on July 1.
Up next, Florida insurance regulators propose a myriad of new rules and forms, an increase in the Cat Fund rate is likely on the way, another reassuring hurricane season is forecast, the latest from the fraudsters, plus Florida’s own brand of killer drones!
