I am betting most of us stayed glued to the news regarding (and bracing for) the coronavirus arriving in the US. Last night, the Governor issued an Executive Order directing that a Public Health Emergency be declared in Florida with news of two presumptively positive cases, and will be holding press conferences in Tampa and Miami today.
The collaboration of the pharmaceutical companies and the FDA is encouraging, and we are reminded we have been through this before with the MERS and SARS viruses. And for those of us who have worked catastrophes and disasters, there’s no telling what contributions we can make as this pandemic heads our way. Because it’s a new illness, we do not know exactly how coronavirus spreads from person to person. It’s very unlikely it can be spread through things like packages or food. Viruses like the coronavirus cannot live outside the body for very long.
No matter what, we all know how to manage “the uncertain and unlikely.” It’s what we do…every day. For those of you around the country, know that we are all part of one big family and keeping a good thought is the best medicine!
And in Florida? Two more weeks of our frustrating, and what appears to be futile, legislative session. Read on for more details from this past week and a preview of this week!
