As we prepare for Thanksgiving this week, I want to share something with you that was shared by Bob Ritchie with his team at American Integrity Insurance Group in Tampa, which follows.
Today’s statement of strength comes from author Melodie Beattie.
“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. It turns problems into gifts, failures into successes, the unexpected into perfect timing, and mistakes into important events. It can turn an existence into a real life, and disconnected situations into important and beneficial lessons. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.”
It’s good to be grateful. In fact, you can’t ever have a negative mindset if you’re displaying gratitude. As we approach Thanksgiving, I would encourage each of you to take stock in not only who or what you’re thankful for, but why you are so thankful for these people and things. They help make you the special and unique person that you are.
Gratitude makes things right. Gratitude turns negative energy into positive energy. There is no situation or circumstance small or large that it is not susceptible to gratitude’s power. We can start with who we are and what we have today, apply gratitude, then let it work its magic. Say thank you, until you mean it. If you say it long enough, you will believe it. Today, let’s shine the transforming light of gratitude on all the circumstances of our life.
During this Thanksgiving season, I have been reflecting on the things for which I am most grateful. Primarily among them is all of you. Thank you for the work you do every day to make American Integrity successful.
I’d also like to share a really great “oldie but goodie” song by Mary Chapin Carpenter that captures the spirit of Thanksgiving. Enjoy the sweet melody of this joyous song, available here on YouTube https://youtu.be/2e1s9R2IHIQ. Remind yourself of the joys of Thanksgivings past and Thanksgivings yet to come.
Think about past Thanksgivings with our parents and grandparents, siblings, aunts and uncles, and cousins. Remember old friends that were invited to your Thanksgiving table so they wouldn’t be alone. Celebrate the technology of FaceTime and Zoom that continue to allow us to connect on this holiday. May joy and melody come your way.
Thanksgiving Song – Mary Chapin Carpenter Lyrics
Grateful for each hand we hold
Gathered round this table.
From far and near we travel home,
Blessed that we are able.
Grateful for this sheltered place
With light in every window,
Saying welcome, welcome, share this feast
Come in away from sorrow.
Father, mother, daughter, son,
Neighbor, friend and friendless;
All together everyone in the gift of loving-kindness.
Grateful for what’s understood,
And all that is forgiven;
We try so hard to be good,
To lead a life worth living.
Father, mother, daughter, son,
Neighbor, friend, and friendless;
All together everyone, let grateful days be endless.
Grateful for each hand we hold
Gathered round this table.
“Thanksgiving comes to us out of the prehistoric dimness, universal to all ages and all faiths. At whatever straws we must grasp, there is always a time for gratitude and new beginnings.” — J. Robert Moskin
Thank you for sharing Bob! And Happy Thanksgiving to All and please enjoy it safely!
See you on the trail,
Lisa
