Let’s celebrate Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday today and everyday.
This past week I attended the Office of Insurance Regulation (OIR) Summit with over 300 insurance professionals from as far away as Canada. For those of you who didn’t attend, you missed a terrific two days of great interaction and information with everything from how to make rate and form filings more efficient to discussions of tough and emerging markets like long term care and flood coverage, respectively.
The keynote speakers, Senator Jeff Brandes and his California colleague Guy Fraker (https://www.linkedin.com/in/gfraker/), founder of Insurance Thought Leadership, pushed us all to think big and ramp up for the future of the financial services industry, preparing ourselves to be replaced in many instance with machine learning and artificial intelligence platforms for claims, underwriting, policy processing and call center functions.
We’ll talk more about the summit in this newsletter, but in the meantime, our “Hats Off” to OIR key leaders for continuing to reach out to those they regulate and facilitating the success of our insurance markets which is a win for consumers in the long run!
