In Lakeland, ten minutes from where I grew up, the local fire department is bringing their fit firefighters and some pretty pooches together for their 5th annual SPCA Florida Rescued Pets calendar! Just in time for the holidays, the buff men of the Lakeland Fire Department will be posing in photos with different rescued dogs for each month in their 2020 calendar.
At only $10 a pop, each month will feature a new pup and fire safety tips. The calendar’s proceeds all go to helping support the medical care of animals found by firefighters at emergency calls and treated at the SPCA Florida’s Reva McClurg Medical Center. Last year, a portion of the money earned from calendar sales went to the purchase of vital oxygen masks for animals found at scenes by the fire department.
Benefits like these are always a fun way to raise money for a good cause, especially if you’re an animal or dog lover like myself! And who doesn’t appreciate a well chiseled local hero cuddling with a grateful rescue pup? To order or for more information, you can visit the SPCA Florida website.
Have a great week!
