I was in Southwest Florida this past week visiting the two insurance villages, among other places. Rather than describe what I heard, I will let 71 year old Craig Stafford tell you in this short video:
Thank goodness for those who attended the insurance villages: the insurance company representatives who helped consumers get their claims paid; the We Insure agency volunteers who served hundreds of hot meals for those coming to the villages; and the Department of Financial Services (DFS) soldiers who helped consumers cope with their many challenges, who unfortunately answered their front door and got duped by unscrupulous actors preying on the vulnerable.
The DFS, as you’ll read in this newsletter, is taking a special interest and devoting extra staff, together with local police and sheriff’s departments, to counter unscrupulous activity toward homeowners like Mr. Stafford in the devastating aftermath of this storm. I also have more on my visit later on in these pages, too, as well as other relevant news since our last Hurricane Update. Read on!
