We read with interest a recent Tampa Bay Times article on the life of a door-to-door salesman. Of particular interest was this line: “The Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater metro area now has the highest concentration of door-to-door sales reps in the nation ̶ a major leap after not cracking the top 10 in 2020.” We shared the article with many of our readers individually. Here is what one reader commented:
Timely for this to be sent. Just before heading to PIR, I was home alone packing and a solar salesman came to our home at 9 pm. I was so startled. We live in a gated community and have non-solicitation restrictions at all hours. He really frightened me that late at night, and also refused to leave. I ended up calling my neighbor to get him off our front porch since my husband wasn’t home. He said he “didn’t want to leave because it was raining.”
Interesting stat that Tampa/St Pete now has one of the largest # of door-to-door sales reps in the country. I really think it will be interesting to see what carriers decide to cover with solar panels going forward. As you know, we are in the process of replacing our roof due to storm damage and the pool solar system was the only cause of the damage we incurred. Nailing and drilling into your roof cannot be a good idea. We bought the home with the system and will not be replacing it with our new roof come December. Interesting read! Thanks for sharing, Lisa.
It is up to all of us to be vigilant and educate our respective audiences on why we should never answer our front doors. At LMA our motto is, “Folks you know come to your back door, those you don’t know come to your front door…don’t open the door!” Up next is a great assortment of news you can use!
