It seems like yesterday that I was reading about 100 degree temperatures in Orlando and Miami (and it reached that as well a few days in Tallahassee). But thank goodness my favorite season is nearly here and fall is already in the air. There are many reasons why I love fall as the best season and the first is that the trees change colors.
While Florida isn’t like North Carolina, Vermont and the like, we still get some yellow and orange leaves that can be pretty magnificent. If you live in a spot that doesn’t have much color, make sure you find it online or have friends up north send you pictures! I was recently in Vermont and the maple trees are especially vibrant with colors of red and golden-yellow and combinations of both. To this day, they are my favorite trees when the season changes. Nothing can relax and rejuvenate you more than enjoying nature and its surrounding fall-ish changes.
As we are all looking forward to this “cooling off” month of September, saying goodbye to summer is not hard to do. Fall creates the perfect setting for a sense of comfort, warmth and reflection, and if nothing else, take a road trip or anything else where you can spend quality time with friends and family while eating good food and celebrating life’s blessings.
I believe that underneath the surface of all the obvious reasons we love fall lie those more subtle associations rooted in what makes change so powerful…that fall is a part of a beautiful cycle of loss, regeneration and regrowth. The dead leaves and branches on the ground disintegrate and become part of the soil, acting as seeds and fertilizer later, once the cold welcomes the warmer weather. Let’s face it: our demeanor changes when the weather starts getting cooler and we spend more and more time outdoors. I hope that this reminder of all things fall gives you a sense of peace and thankfulness as you start your week!
