For many Native Floridians, seeing snow is a fantasy only realized by visiting just about any other state beyond our borders. Many Floridians have never seen snow at all and for them, Dade City’s new snow park Snowcat Ridge will provide a unique frozen experience when it opens in the fall of this year.
Florida’s new and only snow park will feature an outdoor 60 foot tall, 400 foot long snow tubing hill, an alpine village, and an enclosed snow dome where everyone can play and frolic in tons of real snow to their heart’s content. Snowcat Ridge is sure to bring lots of tourists from around the state as the park plans to remain open 120 days a year as long as outside temperatures don’t rise above 80 degrees Fahrenheit.
While we do get a few natural snowflakes here in Tallahassee once a decade, there’s certainly a natural curiosity with the white stuff. As we step into the new decade, our prosperous sunshine state is already offering innovative new ways to enjoy life with family and friends – and Snowcat Ridge may be just the start of a whole new concept!
Happy New Year & See you on the trail!
