In other good Florida news, we’re happy to announce that our friends at the nonprofit Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF) have recently opened a Florida Chapter to broaden their impact in the Sunshine State. The new addition will be headquartered in Tampa and focus on providing grants, volunteer services, and community leadership − uniting those who want to make a difference.
The new chapter’s co-founder and co-chair is Maggie Potter, Shareholder of the Segal McCambridge law firm’s Tampa office. She shared that “Our Florida Chapter will unite the Florida industry folks to give back directly to the communities we serve with a Florida specific focus on disaster preparedness and relief along with at-risk youth, food insecurity, and veterans.”
The national IICF has a proud history: its four regional U.S. divisions and two international divisions have contributed more than $50 million in grants and 370,000 volunteer hours in service to more than one thousand nonprofit partners. The best part? All the funds are locally raised and stay within their communities. The Florida Chapter is off to a great start, with twenty Founding Board Companies, representing all insurance lines, plus supporting businesses, such as engineering and construction firms.
The Chapter’s inaugural event will be the Florida Harvest Pack Project, to be held on October 9, 2025, from 3:00 – 4:30pm at the Tampa River Center. IICF Florida is looking to pack more than 20,000 healthy meals for distribution with a minimum participation goal of 100 industry volunteers. As mentioned, these meals will go out to the Tampa Bay area’s most vulnerable – at risk-teens, children, and veterans, helping alleviate the food insecurity that strikes these high-risk populations. We encourage everyone nearby to lend a hand and help be a part of the positive force of community, reshaping the future one meal at a time. The foundation is still welcoming new membership, and all companies that join in 2025 will be recognized as Founding Board Companies. To learn more, please contact Maggie Potter at [email protected].
See you on the trail,
Lisa
