We open this edition hoping that all of you had a wonderful celebration. The dates of the Christian holiday of Easter and the Jewish holiday of Passover are determined by the Vernal Equinox. While Passover celebrates the ancient Jews leaving Egypt more than 3,000 years ago, and Easter celebrates the resurrection of Jesus over 2,000 years ago, these two holidays are more than just connected by an ecliptic longitude of the Sun, and the Old and New Testaments. They’re connected by lessons given then — and now forgotten or ignored — and how so much of those teachings are needed and still so relevant today.
Moses and Jesus inspired all people to strive for kindness and respect and for justice for everyone. Both men instilled a vision and a model to live a life for a higher spiritual purpose than acquiring material wealth and exerting power over others. Whether a person believes in the eternal life after death, reincarnation, or nothing after life, our journey still is the same.
We all can do better in listening and supporting each other, and we all MUST do better — because all of our lives, the lives of our children and all the future generations depend on it.
That is the true message of Easter and Passover and we so appreciate you supporting and listening to those of us at LMA! Next up is a terrific edition of this week’s news and happenings.
