The Florida Division of Emergency Management is congratulating its Mitigation Bureau Chief, Miles Anderson, for his honor in receiving the 2020 GHC Lifetime Achievement Award. Miles also serves as the State Hazard Mitigation Officer. Due to COVID-19, there was not an in-person award ceremony, but we are happy to celebrate this great achievement!
The Division noted that “Miles has worked tirelessly to help the citizens of Florida and has truly made Florida a leader in Mitigation.” The Lifetime Achievement Award is given to an individual that has made outstanding or substantial contributions and accomplishments in the field of hurricane preparedness, response, recovery or mitigation at local, state or national level over an entire career. And the best part? I have the privilege of talking to Miles every week, saving every resiliency thought that he has in my memory, listening to his passion to help small counties and cities, and watching him effortlessly push millions of dollars in FEMA grants into projects around the state that make our entire geography better. If there’s a way to tame Mother Nature, Miles has the recipe. We want to add our congratulations to one terrific Floridian!
See you on the trail,
Lisa
