I spend as much time as I can in the mountains of North Carolina, as I feel like they call me to come for a visit! For those of you who are mountain fans, you will understand. In one of the many gift shops in Waynesville NC, I saw this sign at left and it just made me smile.
On December 17, we are hosting our 10th annual benefit for Last Hope Dog Rescue. In the evenings when the pace of business slows, there are a number of elves who come to our home and decorate a tree, string some lights and have a coca cola or stronger. All the while my furry friends follow them obediently in hopes there may be a treat or a pat on the head. It makes me think of the wonderful life many pets have but of the hard life of so many, too. I don’t know about you but on the occasion when I watch a little television, the only commercials that get my attention are the ones regarding endangered wildlife or abused domestic animals. Seeing these gives me all the more reason to share my time and friends with a great charity. Many of you have been so gracious to support it with $25 checks to ones much larger. The organization has no paid staff and a great team of dedicated volunteers who do what they can to help those that need it.
Whether it’s a donation to my charity of choice or one of yours, it’s my belief that being charitable is but one of the reasons for the season. It is in this spirit that I wish you a wonderful week and am here anytime I can lend a hand!
My best,
Lisa
