Florida’s Old Capitol went blue this past week in symbolic support of our fellow Floridians at Naval Air Station Pensacola, scene of a horrific shooting two Fridays ago that claimed three servicemen’s lives and injured eight others, including responding Escambia County law enforcement. The blue lights that illuminated the Old Capitol building were a symbolic reflection of both the mood of the community but also the outpouring of support for the home of the Blue Angels, the station’s elite precision flyers.
Governor DeSantis, in directing the weeklong blue lighting, noted that “NAS Pensacola is important to the identity of our state…we honor and stand with the Pensacola community following last week’s tragedy.” The violent events of December 6 were truly heart wrenching. The NAS is the “Cradle of Naval Aviation” where many men and women have earned their wings as Naval Flight Officers. We wish them Godspeed in their continuing vital mission to defend this country against all enemies.
We wish you a safe and happy holiday season. If you have a live Christmas tree this year, remember the hazard of fire and be sure to water your tree often and always turn off tree lights before leaving your home or going to bed. Our next newsletter edition will be January 6. Up next, a digest of the bills, updates on NAIC & NCOIL and other relevant news covering insurance, disaster management, environment & engineering, and healthcare.
Peace to you & your family,
Lisa
