With Florida reopening just in time for summer, some of the Sunshine State’s best cities have ranked high for their value in staycationing in a new national survey. Vacationing right in our home state can be key to maintaining safety amidst the coronavirus outbreak while simultaneously watching your wallet and helping reinvigorate our local community’s economy. Look for tourism officials to go after local residents initially before out-of-staters to help rebuild this number one sector to Florida’s economy.
WalletHub’s 2020 List of the Best and Worst Cities for Staycations has Tampa among the best in their number three slot, Orlando at number 10, Tallahassee at number 11, and Fort Lauderdale at number 14. The study compared more than 180 cities across 15 key metrics. While these three cities top the list for Florida, it is the idea itself that presents us with a bit of light in the dark.
The notion that we don’t have to travel far to practice good health and find a bit of peace of mind here in the Sunshine State is one reminder of how we can all appreciate the peninsula we call home.
See you on the trail,
Lisa
