Lisa with Angie, RJ, and Marquis at the Gadsden County Animal Shelter, December 15, 2025
Happy New Year! I hope your 2026 is off to a good start! A big thank you is due to everyone who was able to attend our holiday party & fundraiser for Last Hope Rescue on December 13. Thanks to your over $10,000 in donations, we were also able to deliver 110 bags of dog food to Elder Care Services of the Big Bend, so that our seniors can feed their animals that they love so much! We also shared the larger bags with the Gadsden County Animal Shelter. You can hear more by clicking this video:
As we begin 2026, there are a couple of dates to share with you to put on your calendar:
February Trade Show – The Professional Insurance Agents of Florida (PIA Florida) will be holding its 2026 Conference and Trade Show on February 23 & 24 at the beautiful Tradewinds Resort in St. Petersburg Beach. This year’s show, titled “The Next Wave,” will be filled with timely and relevant information, insights, and opportunities. Sessions include how to grow your book in the new year, an AI workshop with a take home workbook and free agency tech audit, and an advocacy update on the legislative session that starts next week by yours truly. You can register here as well as view the sponsorship/exhibitor brochure.
April OIR Insurance Summit – The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (OIR) will be holding another of its occasional Insurance Summits on April 14-15 in Tallahassee. The summit will bring top regulators, consumer advocates, and industry executives together to discuss Florida’s insurance market. It’s always well attended by industry executives, government affairs folks, personnel, actuaries, and legal professionals who want to better understand the present market and shape the future of insurance regulation. We’re told the summit will also feature national perspectives of insurance regulators from across the country. You can read more here. Registration opens next Monday, January 12 here.
We have lots of news in this newsletter edition to help you get back up to speed on what you may have missed over the last few weeks, plus a preview of what we can expect when the Florida Legislature begins its 60-day session next week and the filed bills we’re following so far.
Everyone knows I love dogs and I recently happened upon this posting on Facebook that reminds us of the important role that our four-legged friends can play in our life. Enjoy!
