With summer on its way out and the fall work cycle beginning, many of us who have been and will remain working from home have hopefully experimented with new ways of adjusting to a home-work life. Still, distractions abound regardless of whether we’ve found our methods of handling them. Some homeowners have discovered a new style of organization to help keep a focused workspace that comes with its own daily commute – the backyard office shed.
Transforming your shed into the ideal home office may not be viable if you use it for actual utility space, but companies like Studio Shed, Kanga Room Systems and Modern Shed have all devised unique and spacious sheds for a home office design able to be shipped and assembled in your backyard. Size and prices vary. Kanga Room Systems’ units start around $5,000 for an 80-square-foot shed kit that requires self-assembly and the prices climb from there.
Demand for these backyard sheds is growing, especially by stay-at-home workers who don’t have the space inside their home for a dedicated office. Studio Shed reports a four-fold increase in April sales year over year. You can be sure more innovative ideas and competition will be making an appearance in the market. Necessity bears fruitful ingenuity during hard times and inspires motivation as we push forward together, and ideas like the home-office shed allow us space for our own self-improvement. Here’s to some of the worst of times bringing out the best of times in all of us!
See you on the trail,
