“In a tree by the brook, there’s a songbird who sings, sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven…” and ooh, it really does make us wonder how Tico, the double yellow-headed Amazon Parrot, developed such an impressive vibrato!
Accompanied by his owner, Frank Maglio, and his guitar, the duo performs their own rendition of the Led Zeppelin classic, “Stairway to Heaven,” in the amazing YouTube video below that’s gone viral itself. Mr. Maglio was in need of a hobby last year while stuck in pandemic lockdown and decided to teach himself guitar. While he may have been surprised enough by the world’s sudden shift, he never expected to find a bandmate in his pet Tico.
The two gel masterfully together as if they’ve been playing gigs for years! In addition to the song performance above, you can visit Maglio’s YouTube channel to see their covers of Bon Jovi’s “Dead or Alive”, The Beatles’ “Here Comes the Sun” and “White Wedding” by Billy Idol, among other classics.
Of course, it’s wonderful to see people and their pets thriving as we work back towards normal life amid the COVID-19 pandemic, as many have found themselves more lost during these trying times. As the above song goes, “…it’s whispered that soon, if we all call the tune, then the piper will lead us to reason.” Perhaps Frank and Tico have lent us their musical inspiration – that retreating into the music we love or even finding the time to learn an instrument we’ve always adored, can help us through to the dawn of a new day.
